A Victorian drug user has been jailed for at least six years for repeatedly stabbing a teenager who survived the attack after hobbling to a nearby McDonald's for help.

Andrew Glenn Pearson, 32, was sentenced in the County Court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to intentionally causing serious injury and other charges over the attack at Maryborough, near Bendigo, in July 2016.

The victim, who was 18 at the time, had his car stolen and was stabbed five times but managed to stagger 800 metres to a McDonald's restaurant where he was aided by staff before being rushed to hospital.
