EPA cleans up Victorian hotel asbestos

By AAP Newswire

Asbestos has been found in the ruins of a hotel destroyed by fire in northwest Victoria, prompting the state's environment watchdog to step in.

The Sea Lake Hotel in the Mallee district burnt down in April last year and the property owner failed to clean up asbestos found after its demolition, the Environment Protection Authority says.

The EPA fenced off the site and issued a clean-up notice but will now step in to remove the asbestos after the property owner failed to comply..
